Try a 505

High performance dinghy racing at its best

The UK 505 Class Association boat “Marlow” is available, on application, for teams to try out and experience 505 sailing with a view to joining the class.

She is sponsored by Marlow and has been fully re-stringed, calibrated and tuned ready for the 2024 season.

“Marlow” is as fast as any out there with a carbon Rondar hull, the design that has won 18 505 World Championships, she has Selden Alto mast, carbon boom, DEM foils rudder and a WaterRat centreboard with a full set of P&B sails. Over this winter she has been set up, tuned and calibrated by 505 Champions Ian Mitchell, Alex Davies and Roger Gilbert.

Demos and test sails will generally be at Hayling Island or other venues by arrangement.The not so small print:

  1. For events we ask for a donation towards costs of around £30-40/day (tbc just waiting on insurance costs to be confirmed) as a contribution towards running costs like insurance, storage, wear and tear, sails.
  2. The boat is insured by the Class Association we ask that you
  3. Please take care of her as if she were your own
  4. EXCEPT please don’t do any modifications
  5. Decisions on lending the boat are at the absolute discretion of the Class Boat Team.
