505 Euro Cup, leg 3, was this years’ Kieler Woche and it was really tight sailing in a 36-boat fleet.

505 Class President Michel Quirk, AUS, crewed by several times World Champion crew, Holger Jess, GER, had an impressive regatta. They finished on 35 points after 11 races, two points ahead of Stefan Köchlin/Andreas Achterberg, GER, who were 1 point ahead of Philippe Boite/Mathieu Fountaine, FRA, in third place. The favourites, Wolfgang Hunger/Julien Kleiner finished fourth on 43 points, the same number of points as Jan-Philippe Hofmann/Felix Brockerhoff in 5th place.

These 5 had a comfortable margin over 6th-place Nathan Batchelor and Norman Byrd, the best-placed GBR team.  Also in the top 10 were Chris Lewns and Jack Kilburn in 10th.  Jim and Ian McGillivray finished in 25th.
