Fantastic first day at Tynemouth!
The opening day of the 505 UK Nationals saw 21 boats ready for the 12 – 18 knot NE with nice big swell coming down from Norway! Top day from the local Team of Batchelor / Pascoe winning all 3 races. Very close racing, lovely conditions and a great organisation from the RO, followed by Pasta & refreshments off the water provided a very slick onshore team ! Tomorrow, similar direction, less breeze forecast and maybe some Sun!
Day 2
Perfect Score from Nathan and Sam
Light 5-8 north/ north easterly, course laid in the south bay but further south & east, flattening out the tidal relief on the left of the course. The gate was shortened to 80 seconds keeping racing compact. Right paid as much as the left. Nathan & Sam won all 3 races, then Howie Hamelin & Jeff Nelson with 2,2,4 the day. Tim Bird & Mike Priddle were pathfinder for a race 6 and lead round the first mark. Downwinds were very trick with light winds and large winds. Dave Ellis & Jim Hunt sailed very smart to get a 3,3,2
